On March 24, the 2024 FIE Women’s Epee World Cup (Nanjing) concluded. Chinese Women’s Epee Team won a silver medal in the team competition, which won them a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. HFU student Tang Junyao, one of the team members played a crucial role in winning this ticket.
Competition of women’s epee at Nanjing was the final competition before the 2024 Paris Olympics. A total of 18 teams participated in it. Chinese Women’s Epee Team, fighting tenaciously and cooperated tacitly, ultimately defeated South Korea 45-43.
As a rising star in Chinese Women’s Epee Team, Tang Junyao, only 21 years old, has won many awards at home and abroad. In the final round of the women’s epee team competition at 31st FICU World University Games at Chengdu in 2023, Tang Junyao overcame difficulties and defeated the World Cup champion 11-5, leading the Chinese team to win the team gold medal. In the just-concluded International Fencing Federation Budapest Epee Grand Prix, she finally defeated her opponent 15-13 in spite of the unfavorable situation of 5-8 behind in the beginning.
